John M. Robinson, Jr.

John Robinson was born in Connellsville, Pa. 1n 1937, he graduated from the Pennsylvania Maritime Academy and then from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy. He first worked as a first officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine. In 1941, John became a navigator on Pan American Clippers, flying the first regularly‑scheduled transatlantic commercial passenger flights. In 1948, John joined Seaboard. In 1955 he served as chief navigator on a pioneering flight to the North Pole.

John was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mary Margaret, in 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Robinson and Nancy Muccini; son, John Robinson; brother, Robert Robinson; and two grandchildren, John M. Robinson IV and Allison Lee Muccini.
