Norm served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-52 Navigator in the Strategic Air Command. He later became a pilot, flying C-133 and the C-141 aircraft in the Military Airlift Command. He Joined Seaboard as a pilot in 1969. In 1970, he was furloughed and joined Trans International Airlines (TIA)/Transamerica Airlines where he became a DC-10 captain. His airline career ended when TransAmerica ceased operations in 1986. Norm then had a successful career in real estate.
